When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going – Billy Ocean Lyrics
I hail from a country that consistently dominates the Marathon scene! The marathon is a long-distance running event with an official distance of 42.195 kilometers (26 miles 385 yards) that is usually run as a road race. The event is named after the fabled run of the Greek soldier Pheidippides, a messenger from the Battle of Marathon to Athens.
I am sure most of you are familiar with the expression “hitting the wall.” This phrase originally used by runners to describe what happens between the eighteenth and twenty-fifty mile of a marathon. At this point the runners’ legs stiffen and hurt and they have to work much harder to lift their legs.
As a home party consultant, there may be many reasons why you feel you are hitting the wall in your work at home party business.
1. Maybe you underestimated just how long and difficult the climb would be, getting harder with each step, not easier.
2. Perhaps you put too much faith in your upline, the promise of overnight riches– not just in the written testimonials you have heard, read and even witnessed!
3. Additionally, there are all those direct sales resources, materials and accompanying tools that seem so logical and compelling on their face but which fail to meet the real-world tests of the business and internet savvy world.
4. Then there is the obvious lack of time, or know-how, or incentive, or will to use them.
5. GAS PRICES
6. Or maybe for you hitting the wall is simply not knowing what to do next, or not coming to grips with doing what you know in your heart must be done (Remember the entry by Mimi Tenace – Home Party Planning, Is It For Everyone?)
By now you have learned that no matter how inclusive your upline or the home party plan training process for developing successful six figure home party plan sales representatives might have been, or how committed your team, customers and downline is in using the marketing methods that are set forth by the mother party plan company, it will not cause you to perform at the same standard or generate similar success.
It may finally be dawning on you that long-standing structures and practices in your home party marketing systems (3 –foot rule, 3-way calls, Prospecting at the Mall, flyers on wind shields) are less powerful than the proven market tested methods of doing business.
If you are feeling that you are hitting the wall in your direct sales, work at home business I want to suggest that is not a bad thing. Hitting the wall, then, is a signal for you to think more deeply about how to best focus your energy to finding the right combination of strategies to build your home party plan empire!
