Once Basment run company reaches $1.5 Billion Mark

You know what they say, if you can’t beat them join them right?  How about imitation is the sincerest form of flattery?  Here’s a good one there is no use re-iventing the wheel? If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!…No this is not a home party game of just how many cliches can you come up with, BUT they are cliches that teach a lesson. Creative imitation must be one of the major tools for a home party consultant looking to make a six figure income!

Direct Sales Marketing, and marketing being the keyword here, is about human psychology.  Marketing is the game of finding out what makes people tick and then pressing the response button to your advantage.  As a marketing technique, “free samples” has had a long lasting effective history.

1. The free sample is first and foremost a gift

2. It is a great publicity tool for the manufactures

3. Easiest way to generate sales and build a positive opinion of products.

Amway Cor. grew from a basement-run operations to a 1.5 Billion dollar yearly sales business by making use of the free sample approach in a device called the BUG.

The BUG consisted of a collection of Amway products - bottles of furniture polish, detergent, or shampoo, containers of sprays, you get the poing.  The BUG was carried to the customer’s home in specially designed tray or a simple polyethylene bag.  It is widely known that the confidential Amway Career Manual then instructs the salesperson to leave the BUG with the customer for a specified window of time, ususally 24-72 hours at no cost, no obligation to the customer.  “That’s an offer no one can refuse,” the manual states.

At the end of the trial period the Amway representative was to return and pick up orders for those products the customer wished to purchase.  The BUG caused such a big stir.  Reports by Amway distributors record the remarkable effect, “Unbelievable!  We’ve never senn such exctiment.  Product is moving at an unbeliveable rate, and we have only just begun….[Local] distributors took the BUGS, and we’ve had an unbelievable increase in sales [from Illinois distributor].  The most fantastic retail idea we’ve ever had!…On the average, customers purchased about half the toatla amount of the BUG whe it is picked up…In one workd, tremendous!  We’ve never seen a sresponse within our entire organization like this [from Massachusetts Distributor].

And what’s best since no one ever uses all the product, you can reuse and recycle.

Home Party Plan Success Tip: Time to plant your BUG.  Make it personal, put in items you know that your prospective customer will like and appreciate!  Remember the key to this working is no pressure, let’s see if we can’t increase home party sales.
