Hello direct sales consultants,

With so much air time being given to direct selling news bits and how many are turning to direct selling as a viable source of income, I thought with all the New Year’s resolutions about to pop up I would lend you a hand to ensure your success.  What kinds of direct selling blogs go without a New Years’ Resolutions plug :) !

One of America’s most profitable direct-selling companies, The Amway Corporation, encouraged its sales personnel by providing the following direct selling helpful hints/advice: “One Final tip before you get started: Set a goal and write it down…There is something magical about writing things down…You’ll be off and running.”

Women in direct selling constitute the bulk of the 15 million or so direct selling reps in the U.S.A.  Women are also some of the most over-worked and under appreciated group of people.  I am all for goal setting, but I would like to shift this goal setting madness a bit!

I recently attended and moderated a call in which Donna Fox, one of the country’s foremost leading experts on credit and business was interviewed.  We were allowed to ask her a couple of questions.  I wanted to know what she did for fun, and what she recommends that every woman do for herself.

She is strongly in favor of women taking time for themselves.  A bubble bath is one of her fav. things to do and she recommended the products at http://www.lush.com (all natural and environmentally friendly).

I want you to commit to taking 15 minutes daily for yourself to breathe, to sit quietly, to sip some wine, enjoy some chocolate, cup of tea, coffee, hot cocoa.  I also want you to commit to doing something big for yourself once a month.  Get a massage, a pedicure, go watch a movie and have a great lunch and/or dinner with friends.  Read a book alone with no interruptions!  And no I do not want to hear about the so called tough economy.  You deserve it!

I want you to take it one step further.

1. Write it down, and describe in details the feelings and results you want to obtain

2. Share it with at LEAST 5 other people you know that love and deeply care for you!

Why?  Robert Cialdini  co-author of Yes! 50 Scientifically Proven Ways To Be Persuasive states: “put simply, commitments that  are made actively have more staying power than those made passively!”

Here are my resolutions for 2009 :

Get a massage twice a month.

Get a monthly pedicure.

Take a nap 3 times a week!

Keep it simple (I refuse to stress!)

Looks like I covered all the bases (I wrote it down, I am sharing with what I know to be more than 5 people), looks like I am locked into the deal and I will keep you updated!

So here is to your becoming one of the many direct sales success stories!
