That Oprah, I tell you she sure is a wealth of knowledge. As a student of marketing, you will find as you look at direct sales marketing with a different mindset and eye, everything is a lesson in success.

Ok not to leave you hanging. Yesterday we talking about using and highlight minor common faults as way of unlocking people’s vaults, getting them to trust you and before you know it you will be seeing an increase in home party sales!

Now for part two:
“Avis. We Are #2, but we try harder. (When you are not number #1, you have to.)”
“The Peace Corps: The toughest job you will ever love”
“Motel 6: Our rooms aren’t fancy, but our prices aren’t fancy.”
“L’oreal: We’re more expensive, but you are worth it.!”

And then there is oprah with her admission that she has fallen off the wagon with her battle with weight, but hey it is a battle and she is back in the saddle again!

So how does this apply to you the direct sales consultant?

Bottom line if there is an area (small area) in which your leverage is weak, your negotiation partner is likely to see you as trustworthy if you mention it upfront rather than having it be discussed later!

It is much like building a brick wall. As you build and notice a crack, is it easier to tear it down and start over again when you notice the crack, or do you finish the wall with the glaring error and then tear it down?

Here is the deal, every one thinks and feels that their direct sales company and their direct sales products are the best in the world. But they really the best? No! Why because if it were, there would be no need for imitations and copy cat products. Catch my drift. The 95% failure in the industry is due largely to the hyperbole of companies and products.

Just keep it simple, highlight the weakness first, then fit the strengths to match the needs of the prospective buyers and you are in business!
