The traditional colour of St. Patrick’s Day was blue. Green became synonymous with the holiday because Ireland is known as the Emerald Isle, and the fact that St. Patrick used the green shamrock to explain the idea of the Holy Trinity.
You know what I find interesting is all the environmentally conscious celebs with their green homes and their green cars, urging every-one to go green.
Now I am not anti-green, I just figure, the majority of us lead relatively simple lives, and very green lives, so how about a twist on the old St. Patrick’s Themes Parties and Let’s go green!
Here is to St. Paddy’s Day, You know the holiday that brings out the Irish in every one ha ha ha ha!
Want more green at your home parties? A sure fire way to boost sales is by themed in home shows!
A History Of St. Patricks Day
There was a boy, 1500 years ago who was captured from Britain and enslaved in Ireland. He escaped after 10 years and then he had a vision, telling him to go back to Ireland and save them from their pagan ways (you know the celtics, the druids and stuff)!
The feast of St. Patrick is a reprieve from Lent, where they could drink 2 pints of ale.
The traditional meal was bacon and boiled potatoes. Irish immigrants in the Us figured out they could buy a cheap cut of beef (brisket), season it with brine, spices and slow cook, hence corned beef (very salty as you know, and spicy)!
Hosting A St. Paddy’s Theme Party:
1. Green Jello Shots (non-alcoholic of course)
2. Irish Soda bread (they couldn’t afford yeast back then, so they figured out how to work around it)
3. Green Apples, cored and well if you want you can have some carmel sauce.
4.
Pot o’ gold! What St. Paddy’s day without one? Get a cast iron pot, black and fill it with chocolate gold coins!
5. Wear green and party it up!
Themed parties are best when kept simple. The focus is getting people interacting and having fun. Tie in your demonstration with the holiday, be sure to have.
HAPPY ST. PADDY’S DAY!
